Project Description

ROSEDALE MOOR AND WESTERDALE COMMON

ROSEDALE MOOR AND WESTERDALE COMMON, NORTH YORK MOORS – HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT SURVEY

Solstice Heritage was commissioned by the Yorkshire Peat Partnership to provide historic environment survey and palaeoenvironmental assessment across nearly 650 hectares of upland moor in the National Park in advance of peat restoration works. Our works identified 75 historic environment features, including evidence of past industry.
Based on our baseline survey, we provided the client with project-focused conservation management recommendations and GIS survey data, compatible with the National Park Historic Environment Record, allowing the client to carry out accurate works planning, at the same time as providing knowledge gain and future conservation management information to the National Park Authority.
